Prasat Baset is an 11th-century Angkorian temple located about 15 km southwest of Battambang city, in Ta Kream commune, Sangke district. Less visited than other temples, it offers a peaceful and authentic glimpse into Cambodia’s ancient history.

History

Prasat Baset was built in 1036 AD during the reign of King Suryavarman I, one of the most powerful Khmer kings of the Angkorian era. The temple was originally dedicated to Hindu deities, though today it is also linked to Buddhist worship, reflecting Cambodia’s spiritual evolution.
